Girl Scouts

The Girl Scouts of America exists to build girls of courage, confidence and character who make the world a better place.

Girl Scouts was founded in 1912 by trailblazer Juliette Gordon Low and is the largest girl-serving organization in the United States, and boasts a world wide sister-hood of close to 10 million girls and adults in 144 countries.

Girl Scouts has identified three keys to leadership: girls discover themselves and their values, connect with others, and take action to make the world a better place. Everything centers around the girl: activities are girl-led providing the opportunity to learn by doing in a cooperative environment with caring adults.

Girl Scouts welcomes girls in grades K through 12 from all backgrounds and abilities who make the Girl Scout Promise and accept the Girl Scout Law. By contacting Girl Scouts of Central Indiana, a girl will be placed in a troop that is geographically near her home or school.

As a volunteer-based, non-profit organization, Girl Scouts of Central Indiana relies on the commitment of more than 18,000 dedicated adults. We are always interested in involving more adults who can lead our girls and teach them leadership skills.
